Usage allocation
Injection molded products account for 50% of the total consumption in European and American countries, mainly used as parts for automobiles and electrical appliances, various containers, furniture, packaging materials, and medical equipment; Thin film accounts for 8% to 15%, and polypropylene fiber (commonly known as polypropylene fiber in China) accounts for 8% to 10%; Pipes and plates used in construction account for 10% to 15%, while others account for 10% to 12%. At present, 40% to 45% of China's weaving products are used, followed by about 40% of film and injection products; Polypropylene and others account for 10% to 20%.
China mainly applies polypropylene as a material in fields such as food packaging, household items, automobiles, and optical fibers. The largest areas of use of polypropylene in China are products such as woven bags, packaging bags, and tying ropes, accounting for approximately 30% of total consumption. In recent years, with the development of polypropylene injection molded products and packaging films, the proportion of polypropylene used for weaving products has decreased, but it is still the region with the highest consumption of polypropylene. Injection molded products are the second largest consumer sector of polypropylene in China, accounting for about 26% of the total consumption. It is also one of the regions with the largest demand for polypropylene in the future. Another major consumer area of domestically produced polypropylene is film, which accounts for about 20% of the total consumption, mainly BOPP (biaxially oriented polypropylene film). In the coming years, the proportion of textile products will gradually decrease, while the proportion of injection molded products, pipes, and plates will increase. According to experts' predictions for the development of the polypropylene industry, China's demand for polypropylene is likely to reach around 23.7 million tons by 2020. Textile products, injection molded products, and thin films are still the main demand areas for polypropylene in China, while the annual demand for pipes, plates, fibers, and other fields is growing rapidly, and the demand for polypropylene in China is also growing rapidly. High speed mapping BOPP film, pipe, thin non-woven fabric, high transparent Food contact materials and other special materials have a good market prospect.
Mechanical and automotive manufacturing components
Polypropylene has excellent mechanical properties and can be directly manufactured or modified to manufacture various components of mechanical equipment, such as industrial pipelines, agricultural water pipes, motor fans, infrastructure templates, etc. Modified polypropylene can be molded into bumpers, anti friction strips, car steering wheels, instrument panels, and interior decorations, greatly reducing the body weight and achieving energy conservation.
Electronic and electrical industrial devices
Modified polypropylene can be used to make insulation shells and washing machine liners for household appliances, and is commonly used as insulation materials for wires, cables, and other electrical appliances. The polypropylene composite made by mixing 60~80 parts by weight of homopolymer polypropylene, 20~40 parts of ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer, and 1~10 parts of compatibilizer (the reactant of polypropylene maleic anhydride graft copolymer and ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer) at 170 ℃~190 ℃ has high toughness, impact strength up to 210J/m, high gas barrier performance, and water vapor permeability rate close to 2000g· μ M/(m2 · 24h). When preparing barrier films, traditional film making processes can be used for production, which are relatively simple and have lower production costs.
construction
Polypropylene fiber is the lightest of all chemical fibers, with a density of (0.90~0.92) g/cm3. It has advantages such as high strength, good toughness, good chemical and microbial resistance, and low price. Polypropylene reinforced with glass fiber or modified with rubber or SBS is widely used in the production of building engineering templates. Foamed polypropylene can be used to make decorative materials. When an earthquake occurs, the failure mode of polypropylene fiber ceramsite concrete is plastic failure, with no peeling of fragments. Choosing polypropylene fiber ceramsite concrete is safer than using plain ceramsite concrete.
Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food Industry
Polypropylene can be used to make greenhouse gas canopies, plastic films, cultivation bottles, agricultural tools, fish nets, etc., and to make food turnover boxes, food bags, beverage packaging bottles, etc. The multifunctional waste PET is made by reactive blending with waste PET (Polyethylene terephthalate), and the in-situ fiber forming composite is made by in-situ fiber forming composite of multi-functional waste PET and polypropylene. This composite material has structural characteristics such as the formation of irregular microfibers from waste PET, and the formation of a moderately flexible and strong bonding interface between waste PET microfibers and PP matrix resin. The toughness and rigidity of the in-situ fiber-forming composite material prepared from waste PET and PP composites are significantly improved compared to PP, and the reproducibility of mechanical properties is quite good. Recycling the large amount of waste generated annually in China, namely waste PET, has significant economic and social benefits.
In the eastern coastal area of China, there are vast marine mudflat with typical saline soil characteristics. There are studies on the synergistic effect of polyacrylamide (PAM) and three types of forage on soil and water conservation in coastal saline soil areas. Applying PAM under biological measures. It has a good promoting effect on the improvement of soil erosion resistance in all three types of forage. Applying PAM can reduce soil erosion and increase rainwater interception; Priority should be given to low doses (1g/m), which have the highest soil and water conservation benefits per unit mass of PAM. It can reduce juvenile erosion by 42.8% to 46.7%, inhibit total soil evapotranspiration by 28.7% to 40.4%, increase soil water dispersion by 5.0% to 12.4%, reduce water loss rate by 1.83% to 3.25%, and promote the increase of soil water holding capacity; In the early stages of grass growth. Increase rainwater interception by 16.5% to 33.8%. The synergistic effect of PAM is beneficial for inhibiting the generation of soil evapotranspiration and enhancing rainwater interception capacity.
Textile and Printing Industry
Polypropylene is the raw material of Synthetic fiber. Polypropylene fiber is widely used to make lightweight, beautiful and durable textile products. The pictures printed with polypropylene material are particularly bright, bright and beautiful.
Other industries
In the chemical industry, polypropylene can be used to prepare various corrosion-resistant transmission pipelines, storage tanks, valves, irregular fillers in packing towers, filter fabrics, corrosion-resistant pumps, and lining of corrosion-resistant containers; In the field of medicine, it can be used to make medical devices; Polypropylene can also be developed and applied in the energy field through grafting, compounding, and blending processes.
